What we do
Insulation for every part of the house
Seven services, one trade. Choose the part of the house that is giving you trouble, or start with the attic, where most of the work begins.

Why it matters here
Most Los Angeles houses were built before modern insulation habits
Census data puts the median year built for housing in Los Angeles County at 1966, and about 69 percent of its homes were built before 1980. The City of Los Angeles looks the same, with a median of 1965. A house from that era was insulated for its own day, and the layer in the attic has had decades to settle, thin out or get disturbed by other trades.
The county also spans more than one climate. The California Energy Commission puts coastal ZIP codes such as Santa Monica (90401) and the Peninsula in building climate zone 6, Culver City (90230) in zone 8, and Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Pasadena and the valleys through Thousand Oaks in zone 9. A house near the water and one in the foothills ask different things of an attic, which is why we look at the house before we recommend anything.
Warm, dark attics also attract roof rats, which the University of California describes as nesting in attics and shredding insulation for their nests. They are present in almost all California cities. When an attic has been used that way, the soiled insulation has to be taken out before new insulation goes in.

The process
How a job runs
You call or send the form
Say which part of the house worries you, whether that is the attic, a wall or the crawlspace, and what you have noticed. Either the phone or the form on this page reaches us.
The space is inspected
The attic, wall or crawlspace is looked at first, so the quote describes your house and not a typical one.
The work is carried out
Insulation that has to come out is removed, the space is prepared and the new material is installed.
The area is left tidy
Access points are closed and the working area is cleaned up. Use the contact page to get started.
Questions
What homeowners ask before they call
What kind of contractor does insulation?
An insulation contractor installs and removes insulation in attics, walls, crawlspaces and roof decks. That covers blown-in and batt insulation, spray foam and radiant barrier, and the cleanup of old or damaged material beforehand. Our insulation services page lists each one.
Which parts of Los Angeles and Ventura County do you cover?
We cover Los Angeles, Hollywood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, Culver City, Pasadena, Tarzana, Calabasas, Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks, Rolling Hills, the Palos Verdes Peninsula and the South Bay. If your street is near one of them, ask.
What type of insulation is best for an attic?
It depends on the house. Blown-in insulation suits an open attic floor, spray foam suits roof decks and awkward shapes, and the choice follows from how the attic is built and what is already in it. The attic insulation page goes through the options.
Is it worth removing old insulation from an attic?
Often, when it is soiled, wet, matted or contaminated by rodents, because new insulation laid over a problem keeps the problem. Insulation that is dry, clean and simply thin can usually stay and be added to. See insulation removal for how that is decided.
Do roof rats get into Los Angeles attics?
Roof rats are the rodent that nests in attics across California, and they shred insulation to build their nests. If you hear noises overhead or find droppings, have the attic looked at before adding insulation. Our rodent-damaged insulation page explains the cleanup.
